Adderstone Civils joins MukAway as platform continues to attract national civil engineering contractors

MukAway has secured one of its most significant civil engineering partnerships to date after Adderstone Civils, the civil engineering contracting arm of Newcastle-based Adderstone Group, committed to the platform.
The agreement marks another significant moment for MukAway as it demonstrates the platform's growing appeal beyond the housebuilding sector and into the wider civil engineering and construction supply chain.
Already some of the biggest names in civil engineering have backed the MukAway platform and the latest addition, the Merchant functionality. This innovation is perfect for civil engineering companies like Adderstone Civils as it allows verified Merchants to list processed materials directly on the platform, with subscribers receiving automatic notifications when relevant products become available.
Materials including recycled aggregates, sand fill, recycled MOT, recycled 6F2, 6F5, concrete, ashphalt and a range of processed stone grades, are all delivered with full compliance documentation stored against every transaction.
Adderstone Civils operates nationally from its Newcastle headquarters, with regional offices in Newcastle, London, andFelixstowe. The business targets a turnover of over £50 million in major works, delivering projects up to £20 million in value across a broad spread of sectors and disciplines.
As a member of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) and holder of the CHAS Elite accreditation, Adderstone Civils is recognised for its quality-driven, collaborative approach to project delivery - all values that align closely with the principles underpinning MukAway's platform.
By joining MukAway, Adderstone Civils will gain access to a rapidly expanding network of housebuilders, developers, contractors, merchants, logistics providers and treatment facilities. Therefore, creating new opportunities to redistribute surplus materials, reduce waste and generate commercial value from resources that might otherwise be lost.
Jonathan Grant, Managing Director of Adderstone Civils, said: " As Adderstone Civils takes on increasingly large and complex projects across the UK, the need to deliver them responsibly has grown alongside our ambition. We're conscious that scale brings environmental obligation - and we'd rather meet that head-on than treat it as an afterthought.
"MukAway offers a practical, technology-led solution that connects us to a network reducing waste, improving sustainability performance and identifying value we’d otherwise leave on the table.
"As we continue to grow nationally, innovation utilising the right platforms and partnerships matters. MukAway fits that brief."
MukAway was founded to challenge the industry's traditional approach to surplus materials, transforming what has historically been treated as a cost or a compliance issue into a connected, commercially valuable resource within the supply chain.
The platform now connects over 80 major UK construction businesses, with Adderstone Civils representing a further extension of MukAway's reach into civil engineering contracting at scale.
Fraser Linaker, Chief Executive Officer of MukAway, said: "Adderstone Civils is an impressive company and the type of organisation that strengthens what MukAway is building.
"They operate at scale, they work nationally, and they understand that sustainable construction isn't just about good intentions, it's about having the right systems in place to act on them.
"Civil engineering contractors have an enormous role to play in transforming how the industry handles materials. They are often first on site and last off it. The volumes involved, the range of disciplines, the complexity of supply chains, it all creates significant opportunity to reduce waste and retain value. Adderstone Civils joining the platform is a real statement of intent for that part of the market.
"We look forward to working with Jonathan and the team as they embed MukAway across their operations."
The agreement continues MukAway's strong trajectory of growth as the platform attracts an increasing range of housebuilders, developers and now major civil engineering contractors as part of their wider commercial and ESG strategies.
